Privacy policy

Who we are

This site belongs to El Palenque Mexican Restaurant & Cantina, which runs restaurants in Spring and Tomball, Texas. When this policy says "we", that is who it means.

What we collect

We only collect what you type into one of the three forms on this site. Nothing is gathered in the background.

If you send us a message

Your name, email address, phone number if you give one, which restaurant you are asking about, what the message is about, and the message itself. This is emailed to the restaurant and is not saved into the website.

If you apply for a job

Your name, email, phone, the city you live in, the roles and location you want, the hours and shifts you can work, your answers to the eligibility questions, your previous employers and a reference, anything you write in the free-text box, your typed signature, and your resume if you attach one. This is saved in the website so a manager can read it, and a copy is emailed.

If you join the VIP list

Your name, your email address, and the month and day of your birthday if you choose to give them. This is saved so we can send you the offers you asked for.

Stopping abuse of the forms

To stop a robot flooding our forms, we count how many times a form has been sent from your internet connection in the last hour. We store a scrambled version of your IP address to do it, never the address itself, and it is deleted automatically after an hour.

What we do not collect

• No analytics. We do not measure or record how you move around this site.
• No advertising or tracking pixels from Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or anyone else.
• No Social Security number, date of birth or bank details on the job application. If you are hired, that paperwork is done in person.
• No payment details. There is no checkout on this site.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies on your browser when you are simply reading it, so there is nothing to accept or decline. Cookies are only set for staff who log in to manage the site.

Other companies

Two things on this site are loaded from somewhere else. In both cases that company can see your IP address and which browser you use, because any request on the internet carries those.

• Google Fonts — the typefaces on every page are served by Google. Google's privacy policy
• OpenStreetMap — the two maps on the contact page. They only load if you scroll down to them, and nowhere else on the site. their privacy policy

Our Facebook, Instagram and TikTok buttons are ordinary links. Nothing from those companies runs on this site, and they learn nothing about you unless you click through. The photographs in the social section are stored on our own server, not loaded from Instagram.

The site is hosted for us, and our email provider carries the messages the forms send. Those companies handle the information on our behalf and are not allowed to use it for anything of their own.

How long we keep it

• Messages: kept in our email for as long as we need them to answer you and keep a record of the conversation.
• Job applications: kept for one year from the day you apply, then deleted. Ask us sooner and we will remove yours.
• VIP list: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
• Form abuse counters: one hour.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information, rent it, or trade it. We do not share it for anyone else to advertise to you. The only people who see it are the companies that host our website and carry our email, and our own managers — and the law, if we are ever properly required to hand something over.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes you off the VIP list for good.

Write to info@gopalenque.com and tell us what you want done. We may need to check it is really you before we act, especially for a deletion.

Children

This site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect anything from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.

Keeping it safe

The site is served over an encrypted connection. Job applications and the VIP list are private inside the website and can only be read by staff who are signed in. Resumes are stored outside the public part of the server and can only be downloaded by a signed-in manager — there is no web address that reaches them. No system is perfect, but we do not keep anything we do not need.

Changes to this policy

If we change how any of this works, we change this page and update the date at the top.
